Matthew is a  keen student of all things music, a journey which which started in high school where he developed a love for playing guitar.  Since that time, Matthew has developed guitar skills multiple genres including classical, jazz and pop.   ​Upon leaving school in the early 90's, Matthew became actively involved in the Hobart music scene  teaching guitar and performing in local cover bands and acoustic duos.  
 

Upon moving to Melbourne in the late 90's,  Matthew continued his musical journey, teaming up with Dallas Cosmas, a Melbourne based singer songwriter.  Matthew played in different bands with Dallas, and contributed guitar parts to his album releases under the label Prototype Musique.  This including the 2009 indie album with Kate Ceberano - 'Dallas et Kate'.   

 

Matthew has continued playing in various ensembles and duos providing guitar, backing and lead vocals.  He enjoys the challenge of continually extending his repertoire as well as incorporating additional layers and textures to his solo performance, such as the addition of the Woodskin Cajon and looping.

Matthew's repertoire includes a wide array of  classic songs from the 60's to present along with well known jazz standards.  Matthew's sets can provide anything from easy listening background music to upbeat dancing numbers.
